Iracionalita v medicíně a její dopad na rodiny dětí se zdravotním postižením

Abstract

Medicína je obor založený na vědeckém poznání, přesto mnozí lékaři praktikují tzv. alternativní léčebné postupy. Na rozdíl od laických šarlatánů obvykle neohrožují zdraví a životy svých pacientů, neboť jsou vázáni svými zákonnými povinnostmi. Výjimkou jsou ti lékaři, kteří od- razují rodiče malých dětí od očkování, čímž vystavují zdravotnímu riziku onemocnění nakažlivý- mi infekčními nemocemi nejen jedince, ale i celou populaci. Vědecky nepodložené léčebné metody nejsou hrazeny z veřejného zdravotního pojištění, pacienti si je musejí platit sami, často se jedná o horentní sumy. Škála šarlatánských metod sahá od rozšířené, avšak téměř neškodné homeopatie, až po aplikaci neznámých látek bez jakéhokoli dohledu odborných či státních zdravotnických auto- rit za hranicemi České republiky. Zejména rodičům dětí s trvale nepříznivým zdravotním stavem je některými lékaři prodávána falešná naděje za desítky až stovky tisíc korun. V České republice opakovaně probíhají nesmyslné sbírky peněz či víček od lahví (které mají být za peníze směně- ny) na předražené „terapie“, jejich účinek není prokázaný. Nejčastějším terčem těchto neetických aktivit na hranici legálnosti jsou zranitelné rodiny dětí s mozkovou obrnou, muskulární dystrofií anebo s poruchami autistického spektra. Obranou proti takovému zneužívání nemoci a zdravotní- ho postižení je otevřené a pravdivé informování pacientů a jejich rodin ze strany seriózních lékařů a odborných společností, pomoc společnosti zejména se sociálními dopady nepříznivého zdravot- ního stavu a pak také výměna informací v pacientských organizacích, pokud nejsou šarlatány „infikovány“

Medicine is based on scientific knowledge. Doctors are university trained experts who are supposed to honour critical thought and use therapeutic techniques, drugs and health aids that have been scientifically proven to be effective and safe. Many, however, still practice alternative treatment techniques, and in doing so they betray their vocations. The article explores the consequences that this kind of attitude among doctors can have on families with children who suffer from incurable diseases and so a permanently unfavourable state of health. The legal environment in the CR clearly prioritises scientific knowledge in the provision of health care. The constitution guarantees citizens access to health care and is the basis for pursuant laws that regulate public health insurance and the provision of health services explicitly underpinned by the requirement for the presentation of scientific proofs. If a certain therapeutic procedure is genuinely effective and based on evidence, it is funded for patients in the Czech Republic. Patients must pay from their own pockets for alternative treatment, which is often very expensive. The article then offers an overview of the most frequent forms and risks of charlatanism and its reflection in the practice of doctors in the Czech Republic. Typical and real stories of families who appeal to the public for financial support have been chosen from analysis of media reports, web pages and social networks. These are families with children afflicted with muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, or autism, who were seeking help through what is known as alternative medicine.
