| dc.description.abstract | Sight disability means significant limitations in the field of communication especially in written communication. This article presents modern compensation aids that convert written information from a digitally coded form or print to a visual form perceptible to impaired sight or to a sound or touch form perceptible via a healthy sense. The article presents accessible computers with special programme equipment providing an enlarged output or a sound and touch output, computers with technology that recognises text and braille monitors with a touch output. It also prevents camera magnifying lenses that enlarge print, or have heightened contrast to ensure that the information read is as clear as possible. At the end of the article attention is directed to some possible pitfalls of inclusive education. For people who cannot see, the alternative to normal script is Braille point script for the blind. Knowledge of braille and the ability to use it fast and without excessive effort is decisive for the literacy of people with this disability. And it must be admitted that in conditions of integrated education in school, children do not learn to read and write in Braille as effectively as they were earlier taught to do so in special schools. | en |
