dc.description.abstract Photography as an important social phenomenon has inevitably been penetrat- ing into the processes of education. Apart from the technical and aesthetic aspects that usually attract the most attention, each shot also carries a strong communi- cation potential, and this is the main object of our interest. We see this potential both in the taking of the photograph and its actual content, and in the way that it is presented. Producing photographs and their mass presentation is today so unprecedentedly easy that we can speak of a new revolution of the photographic image. In this article we reflect on the position of photography as communication be- tween teacher and pupil and the possibilities of working with it. The practical part of the text consists of a proposal for activity demonstrating the origins of the photographic process, specifically the creation of a pinhole camera and work with it; we realised this project activity with a group of children in the 14-16 age range and found it very valuable. We believe that the proposed activity is an interesting complement to work with digital photography, which compared to classic pho- tography seems to us somewhat denuded of the dimension of uncertainty and surprise at the result en
