In this article we consider the common basis of the reasons for behavioural disorders and argue for the need to integrate socio-therapeutic and expressive methods in the prevention of risk behaviour. We also consider the possibilities for the realisation of community systems in re-socialisation systems. With regard to the basis of the reasons for behaviour disorders we argue for the need to apply sociotherapeutic and expressive methods in the prevention of risk behaviour, and likewise to exploit findings and experience from social psychological training exercises and from psychotherapy.
In constructing programmes to influence individuals threatened by risk behaviour we start from the characteristics of such individuals: in most cases they are not willing to accept verbal methods, persuasion and argumentation. Therefore in establishing contact we primarily use expressive, nonverbal methods.
The article is divided into sections: risk behaviour and its psychosocial contexts, socio-therapeutic methods, expressive methods, stages of brain development, the experience of influence in the alpha level, and finally the integration of psycho- therapeutic, specifically artetherapeutic schools. We give examples of integrated techniques and brief accounts of the results of studies that we have conducted in the past, and show the efficacy of the integration of socio-therapeutic and expressive methods.
We have tested the efficacy of the theoretical principles in a two-year, 250-hour course for staff in children’s homes, educational institutes and for university teachers (2010-2011), doing so by analysis of therapeutic diaries and the final dissertations produced by students. |
