Na příkladu dnešního Havlíčkova Brodu, tehdy Německého Brodu,1 je popsáno, jaké prostředky použili nacisté k tomu, aby co nejvíce vytěžili potenciál mládeže pro svoji ideologii a cíle Třetí říše. Mezi perzekuční opatření patřilo obsazování škol, zavádění nových učebnic a cenzura, vnášení ideologie do výuky, zatýkání, odvolávání a přemisťování učitelů, zneužívání žáků ke sběru surovin a na nucené práce a vyloučení židů. Součástí germanizace bylo nejen povinné zavádění němčiny do výuky, ale také působení Hitlerjugend ve městě a v okolních vesnicích. Na druhé straně jsou v malé míře v dokumentech doloženy i případy kolaborace. Život mladých lidí v době Protektorátu byl obtížný, a to nejen kvůli perzekuci, ale také kvůli tomu, že se museli vyrovnávat s novými poměry a změnami, jimž často nesnadno rozuměli.; The article is concerned with the most important changes in the education system in the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Using the example of Havlíčkův Brod, in those days Německý (German) Brod, it describes the means employed by the Nazis to ensure the greatest exploitation of the potential of the young for their ideology and the goals of the Third Reich. The persecutory measures included the occupation of schools, the introduction of new textbooks and censorship, the imposition of ideology in teaching, arrests, dismissals and the transfer of teachers, the abuse of pupils to collect raw materials and forced labour and the exclusion of Jews. Germanisation measures included not only compulsory German in the curriculum but also the activities of the Hit- lerjugend in the town and surrounding villages. On the other hand there is some evidence of cases of collaboration in the documents. The life of the young in the period of the Protectorate was difficult, not only because of persecution, but also because they young had to come to terms with new conditions and changes that they often found very hard to understand.
